What kinds of events can I run with Kismet?

Kismet is built for group golf events of all kinds - tournaments, corporate outings, charity fundraisers, member events, and more.

Can I pass the player fee on to registrants?

Yes. You can cover it yourself or add it to the registration cost—your choice.

What are the Stripe processing fees?

2.9% + $0.30 per card transaction, 0.8% for bank transfers (capped at $5). 501(c)(3) organizations may qualify for reduced rates.

How does the nonprofit discount work?

Stripe offers reduced rates for 501(c)(3)s, but you'll need to apply with them directly. Once approved, the lower rates apply automatically.

Frequently asked questions

What's actually free? Is there a catch?

No catch. The free plan includes registration, payments, sponsor packages, pairings, email communications, contests, discount codes, and Leads Manager — everything you need to run a full tournament. The only features that require upgrading to Pro are Live Scoring, SMS notifications, offline payment tracking, verified handicap lookup, and multi-day event support.

What is the 2.5% platform fee and who pays it?

For every paid online registration, Kismet adds a small "Platform & processing fees" surcharge at checkout so you receive the full price you set. By default, attendees see and pay this fee — it covers both Kismet's 2.5% platform fee (capped at $250) and Stripe's processing fee.

What are Tournament Resources and why are they locked?

Tournament Resources is the printable materials hub — scorecards, cart signs, check-in lists, start lists, etc. On the free plan, it unlocks automatically once your event processes $2,500 in online revenue through Kismet, or you can unlock it immediately for a one-time $199 charge. Pro plan events include it automatically.

Can I upgrade mid-event?

Yes — and most organizers do. A common approach is to start on Free, collect registrations, then upgrade to Pro once payments come in from players. Your Pro features activate immediately, so there's no rush to upgrade before you're ready.
